Pips Taylor – X Factor – Style Q&A
As the X Factor closes in on us and Sam Bailey very rightful took the crown as this year’s X Factor winner we turn over to our super X Factor online presenter Pips Taylor to talk through best dressed, being photo bombed and the X Factor family…
Which X factor contestant had your favourite style throughout the live shows?
I really liked Tamera’s style this year- she had a great balance of looking really elegant for some and then relaxed and stylish other weeks… I have also loved Luke Friend’s fruity shirts!
Which judge won overall in the fashion stakes this year? Was there an outfit that the Sharon or Nicole wore that stole it for you?
I loved Nicole’s style this year and hands down if there was a competition she won it –I am a massive Sharon fan and she looked amazing each week and clearly knows what suits her. My fave outfit of Nicole’s was a couple of Sunday’s ago- the semi final to be precise-Nicole looked absolutely gorgeous – she was struggling to walk around on stage and in the studio but hey- it was totally worth it! I was on Xtra Factor last week and Nicole said on live TV that I had amazing skin and big red lips – I was very flattered!
Who was your favourite contestant to interview and why?
Ah I loved chatting to all of the contestants this year- I loved interviewing Luke Friend as he was always lots of fun and we cracked up giggling several times, Nicky is a right cheeky chappy – the Rough Copy Boys were always full of energy and Tamera was always lovely too.
Who/what were your inspirations for your X Factor wardrobe?
This year my style was fun, interesting and casual. I am usually down at rehearsals so I cant really turn up in a ball gown—or maybe I can and have missed a trick?! I love fashion and I have my own style -I like clashing patterns, textures and bold pieces so it was really nice to just do my thing.
Which was your favourite outfit you wore during the series?
I have been so lucky this series and had an amazing wardrobe! I had around 3 outfits a week. Some of my favourites have been:
Textile Federation dress
Quilt UK- Black & Gold Tee, Red Leather T-shirt, Charlotte Taylor T-Shirt. Lashes dress
Missoni dress, Amen Sweater – I loved my outfit for Xtra Factor- a Iris & Ink Jeans, A purple camo print shirt by M by Missoni and a Pucci necklace- here is a picky of me being photobombed by security!
If you could style one contestant, who would it be and what would you dress them in?
If I could style one finalist I think it would be the Rough Copy boys- they are full of personality and I love styling men – I would style them in a sharp but laid back suit – maybe a smoking jacket with some rough copyesque feature for good measure! And I would throw in a top hat.
The X Factor “makeovers” before the live shows are becoming notorious, who do you think had the best image overhaul?
What I love about the make-overs is that the finalists have the opportunity to explore their style, their personality and they have a team to help them – its all about how they feel on the day and giving them the confidence to take on the series. Some peoples seem more extreme than others but sometimes just a simple hair style can transform your look. I loved Tameras bob before she left. Sam Bailey also looks incredible.
What was your favourite contestant performance this year?
Favorite contestant performance- there have been LOADS- but since say I have always rated Rough Copy and love their performances- their stand out performance for me was XXX- as well as Luke Friend singing Mumford and Sons.
What’s the atmosphere like behind the scenes, is it as happy as the X Factor family as it seems?
The atmosphere backstage is a always lot of fun – there is always a buzz backstage and the finalists are great mates – they do live together 24/7! They all work super hard but have enjoy themselves too. The atmosphere can be tense on a Sunday which is totally understandable as they all know that one of them has to leave- the finalists have been a real pleasure to work with and get to know.
Any advice for an aspiring presenter? Style wise and/or career wise?
My advice would be actually what most people tell you- just be yourself, work hard and enjoy yourself. Style wise – have fun.
