Roman Kemp
We caught up with Roman Kemp (Models 1 New Face). With two films on the way and some exciting editorials under his belt, there is a lot more to come from this young man. We can’t wait to see what’s in store…

What have you been up to this summer?
I’ve done a couple of films, which come out early next year. One is a remake of Essex Boys, which should be cool. It was shot it in Essex and we did some horrendous morning shots. We had to wait until the club we were hiring out closed for the night to shoot, which meant a lot of 3am starts. A few scenes where also shot where they film The Bill. I was being interrogated for shooting my girlfriend. It’ll be a fun film.
Have you done a lot of acting work before?
I used to act when I was younger, like 13. I did a few BBC and ITV dramas.
Did you ever make an appearance with your dad (Martin Kemp) in Eastenders?
No, I made sure I wasn’t. I did a couple of ITV dramas with him though, which was nice.
Do you think you’ll work more with him in the future?
Definitely, I have the utmost respect for my dad, I would never try and distance myself from him. Anything he’s involved in he always tries to look out for parts for me. Being self-employed you never know when your next job is going to come around so why not get help from home if you can.
How do acting and modelling compare?
They’re both great. It’s a confidence thing I think, being comfortable when someone’s putting a big lens in front of you. I guess the difference is that with modelling you have to engage with the camera more personally, and with acting you have to distance yourself and be within the scene. But again, the way they link together is confidence in front of a lens.
Your dads just gone into the Big Brother house. Tell me about that?
Yeah haha, it’s going to be interesting. I looked this morning and he’s the bookies favourite to win. I think it could work two ways with him, he’s genuinely the nicest man, and I don’t know if it’s going to come across as boring. I know he’ll have fun though, he was really excited, he’s a massive fan of the show.
Was he nervous?
Yeah he was, but we were more nervous than him! My sister and I were watching him going in like, ‘I can’t believe he’s actually going to do this!’ But he wanted to do it and I think he’ll have fun.
At the moment it sounds like all work and no play for you. Have you got any holidays lined up?
I’m actually going to Paris next week. I’ve never been before and it’s my girlfriend’s birthday so I’m taking her there. I might manage to sneak in going to football while I’m there too!
