Q&A ¦ Health & Beauty Secrets with Abi Fox
1) Have you always been interested in health & beauty?
Always, my mum is very healthy but and I’ve always been obsessed with products. I used to save up all my money when I was younger to buy beauty products. My friends used to come to my house and say it was like the inside of The Body Shop!
2) What are some of your favourite brands for skincare?
I love Dr Hauschka for facial oils. Skinceuticals and a French brand called Bioderma. They have really good gentle products for sensitive skin. Lush have great face masks that are affordable and handmade.
3) What are some of your favourite brands for makeup?
I use bareMinerals mostly and an Australian brand called Becca. I also love Laura Mercier!
4) What do you always carry in your handbag?
My phone, a big bottle of water, Lucas Papaw ointment, Laura Mercier concealer, Jurlique face mist, comp cards and some sort of snack like raw nuts. Hand cream from Neals Yard and a hand sanitizer.
5) How has your skin changed over the years?
When I was younger I had really good skin that didn’t need much maintaining. Then when I turned about 19 my skin became oilier and more blemish prone. Which I found frustrating as that was the age that all my friends skin started to clear up
6) How do you look after it?
I cleanse my face when I wake up then put 100% pure aloe Vera on topically before I put moisturiser on. If I’m not working or have castings I don’t wear makeup. If I am working I make sure I wash my face the second I walk in the door. In the evening I make sure my skin is thoroughly cleansed before using Skinceuticals Blemish and Age Defense and then a good moisturiser to stay hydrated. I use a refreshing face mist with rose or neroli when I feel like my skin needs a bit more of a pick me up and I also use it when I’m flying. I also use a face mask from lush 2-3 times a week which doubles up as an exfoliater.
7) Top 5 products?
Lucas Papaw Ointment.
Bioderma Crealine Cleanser
Skinceuticals Daily Moisturiser
Skinceuticals Blemish and Age Defense
100% pure aloe Vera from Holland & Barrett or wholefoods if I’m in the US
8) What makes up your bucket list?
To travel around south east Asia and Australia.
9) Favourite workout/sport?
I love love spinning. In particular SoulCycle when I’m in NYC. When I’m in London I train at Bodyism in Knightsbridge or go to Barrys bootcamp and I love pilates too.
10) What are you secrets to better skin?
Drinking lots of filtered water, eating a very clean and healthy diet. I cook a lot with garlic and tumeric which are both great for skin. I take Chlorella daily and use spirulina. Another great product is bodyisms beauty food, I mix this with a vegetable juice. And anything such as kale, spinach, parsley, cucumber, celery, lemon and ginger are all great ingredients for the skin.
11) What are your secrets to a healthier lifestyle?
Exercise and move daily, even if its just walking for 20 mins. Limit alcohol and refined sugars and carbohydrates, everything in moderation. And be happy!
12) Tell us one of your favourite recipes?

I sometimes get motion sickness but if I eat ginger it helps to settle my stomach and sickness.
13) What food could you not live without?
Sweet potato and avocados are my two favourite foods! I would eat them all day everyday if I could.
14) It’s come dine with me- what would you muster up?
I would bake cod or a similar white fish with coconut oil, lemon, dill and garlic and serve it with seasoned roasted sweet potato and vegetables.
For pudding I would make chocolate mousse, but a healthy version which consists of avocados, raw cacao powder, almond butter and fresh berries.
15) What other models do you look up to for inspiration?
Miranda Kerr for her healthy organic lifestyle and having a good balance between her personal and professional life.
Coco Rocha (Models 1) for campaigning for models rights and creating awareness in the industry.
16) Where would you like to be in 5 years’ time?
Preferably in one place for longer than a few months wherever I might decide to settle. To be able to be lucky enough to still work with some great people.
17) & in 10 years?
To have my own house with a big garden with lots of pets in the country somewhere. And to be successful in my next career move, although I’m not sure what it will be yet. Maybe that could be in my ‘where would I like to see myself in 5 years time’ to have come up with an idea of my next career move!!!
