In May 2014 Models 1 launched their second Instagram search for the next Curve supermodel, this year it was in association with ASOS, UK’s largest online retailer.

It is the second biggest social media search for a plus-size model conducted within the UK. The competition was open to UK based females only aged from 17 – 28 and from a size UK18 plus. To enter contestants needed to simply upload a portrait image with #makemeacurvemodel on Instagram.  The competition received an overwhelming response exceeding over 7,000 entries.

On June 28^th 2014, the five finalists were invited to Models 1 and ASOS head office for a final casting. A judging panel from ASOS and Models 1 along with an independent judge fashion photographer, Simon Wisbey deliberated and decided on a winner. Out of the record breaking entries on Instagram, we are delighted to announce Lauren Punter as the winner of #makemeacurvemodel winning a contract with Models 1 Curve, a day shoot at ASOS Studio and £500 worth of ASOS vouchers.

Models 1 and ASOS say: ‘Lauren’s Instagram pictures were great but the moment that she walked in we knew instantly we had found a winner who was a true ASOS girl with real star quality’.

Models 1 representative says: ‘We are absolutely delighted with the success of the competition and the calibre of the entrants.  There has never been a better time to be a curvy model. Demand for our curvy girls just keeps growing and it is not just the size 12, 14 and 16’s that are in demand, brands are looking for size 18 and 20 curves.

We were so impressed by the girls that made it through to the final and we really look forward to developing Lauren’s modelling career’.
